Control Joints and Cracks Are Not the Same
A control joint is intentionally placed to influence where a slab moves or cracks. A random crack develops outside that planned line and may be stable, widening, or uneven. Treating every line as a cosmetic gap can create unrealistic expectations. The first step is identifying what each line is doing and whether the adjacent concrete is sound.
